Watchfinder & Co. LogoIf I told you that there was a YouTube Channel that features a pair of “talking hands” that discusses different popular mechanical luxury watches, then you might think that I was crazy. I don’t mean to imply that someone is literally making puppet gestures with his hands, it’s just that you never get to see the narrator’sย face on Watchfinder & Co.’s excellent watch reviews and horological history videos. These fact-filled, horologically-rich presentations are shot literally and figuratively from the presenter’s point of view. It is as if we are looking over his shoulder as he discusses wristwatches in great detail, often revealing fun facts that you did not know.

The talking hands of Watchfinder & Co. are really smart!

The talking hands of Watchfinder & Co. are really smart! They know more about watches than you do!

Don’t worry, the hands do more than just talk. They hold some of the most iconic and special watches available, showcasing the features that make them unique. The brands are strictly luxury and specifically Swiss made. You won’t find any Sinn or Seiko watches in these videos, but that is okay. Those brands are covered plenty elsewhere. Instead, the brands and models that are shown represent the pinnacle of Swiss mechanical watchmaking for theย high-end of the market.

Experts from every angle

A fitting slogan…

Watchfinder & Co.’s excellent videography shows the watches in their best light. haha. Excuse the pun. Their studio setup uses a soft light that shows subtle metal gradients and retains detail in the highlights. If there is one thing that annoys me during many YouTube watch reviews, it would be suffering through the harsh lighting that makes great watches look awful. Seeing a studio or ceiling light reflection on the dial detracts from the beauty of the watch.

Watchfinder & Co. sets a new standard for the typical watch review lighting. Their macro videography makes you feel as if you are looking at a ticking mechanical movement with a 10X loupe, or even higher. Watch features are not just mentioned, they are proven…ย leaving little doubt about the accuracy of the commentary. Click the video of the Patek Philippe 5971pย below to see what I mean, though this one has a different narrator than the talking hands.

As you can see below, all the big names of Swiss luxury watches are represented. The review videos play like a “who’s who” of watchmaking brands. Before you turn away saying that you have no interest in “fancyย schmancy”ย watch manufacturers, the videos by Watchfinder & Co. are not snobby or pretentious. On the contrary, they are witty, concise and they leave viewers with several “ah-ha!” moments.

If you live in the U.K., then you might already be aware of Watchfinder & Co.ย because they have several showrooms. I would love to have boutiques like this to visit locally. The shopkeepers would probably have to ask me to leave after a couple of hours. Or at least they might have to provide paper towels and Windex for me to clean the showcases that I drooled on.

For the rest of us, Watchfinder & Co. has a strong online presence at http://www.watchfinder.co.uk. where they buy watches, sell watches and exchange watches. ย Their site is extensive and you can easily spend hours finding loads of great watches. Each watch is accompanied with very crisp, high-resolution photos and detailed descriptions.

Here is how Watchfinder & Co. describe themselves:

Since 2002, Watchfinder & Co. has provided a modern, prestigious service for people investing in fine pre-owned watches from manufacturers such as Rolex, Breitling, Omega, TAG Heuer and Cartier. Purchasing an extraordinary watch should always be an extraordinary experience, which is why all our watches are painstakingly prepared in our manufacturer-certified service centre and come complete with a comprehensive twelve-month warranty. You can purchase, exchange or sell either online or at one of our boutique locations.

I am not commenting on the buying experience, because I have never bought a watch from them, but I am saying that they are worth looking at to judge for yourself. If the videos that Watchfinder & Co. make are any indication of the quality of service, then you might want to give them a look.
