Maybe twice a year, a small group of watch collectors gathers in an undisclosed location somewhere in Atlanta to share food, friendship and lots of watches. This was the second WUS GTG (Watchuseek Get Together) that I had attended, though I was told this has been going on at least for twelve years. If you have an interest in watches, then you don’t have to collect alone. There are literally thousands of other watch nerds worldwide who would be perfectly happy to spend hours discussing the most subtle nuances of any watch. Much of the time, this dialog happens on social media like Instagram or on watch forum sites like Watchuseek. However, meeting face to face lets you handle the watches in the metal and meet the people behind the clever avatars.

This article will not be much more than an appreciation of the event with a few of my favorite watches that I met. To go to a WUS GTG, you have to sign up for the forum (it’s free) and start making watch pals. There is a reason that they are called the “Watch Fam” because they really do feel like birds of a feather. This post is really just an appreciation of the event.
