Blamo’s podcast description more or less reads “Blamo! explores the intersection of fashion and technology with the dynamic and notable personalities who shape these industries.”ย That sounds interesting… especially the last part.

Today, I am recommending one particular podcast from Blamo!ย Usually, I review whole podcast series that are specific to watch collecting, but this time I am turning my focus to one episode that caught my eye. I am not suggesting that this is the only interesting episode of the podcast series. If you are interested in fashion and technology, then you should try some of the other episodes too.

Blamo! Podcast featuring interview with Hodinkee’s Ben Clymer

While searching to see if ย Hodinkee has a podcast (unfortunately not!), I came across an interview with Ben Clymer. His name is almost a household word in watch collecting circles and this is because of what he and his small team haveย created for the watch community at Hodinkee.

Hodinkee is the popular watch blog that often gets cited in other news media and extends its considerable reach outside of the watch community. I would consider the writers there to be taste-shapers concerning watches. Hodinkee was one of the first well-built watch blogs on the internet. Before that, fewer well-designed watch sites existed. The early internet landscape had mostly closed communitiesย of the watchย forums and some early home-grown watch sites that certainly did not look as good or have as much notoriety as this beautiful online magazine.

This podcast interview with Ben introduces us to him as a person and how Hodinkee came about. As someone who decided to pick up a virtual pen and write his own blog, I can certainly appreciate the origin story of Hodinkee. The podcast is less than an hour, with the latter part getting more into the watch-related content. I found it a perfect way to hear the story of the person behind a web site that I enjoy. If you want to hear the episode, you can hear it on iTunes (episode 32), or directly onย Stitcher,ย theย Blamo! web site or Soundcloud.
