As a continuation of the CALLING ALL OWNERS SERIES, I would like to send out a loud “HELLO” and invitation to owners of theย Victorinox Swiss Army Air Boss Mach 4 Limited Edition watch. If you own this watch, then you are in a very elite group because there are potentially only 50 of us.

The Airboss Mach 4 Limted Edition has a ompressor style case with 2 crowns on aftermarket NATO strap

You might be asking why I would say “potentially” instead of “absolutely” 50 owners. Well, this has to do with attrition over time of any watch population. As years go by, watches get broken, stolen, forgotten or otherwise lost to the sands of time.

The compressor style of watch with 2 crowns often appears when internal bezels are used

With a watch like theย Victorinox Swiss Army Air Boss Mach 4 Limited Edition, this attrition might be less pronounced because it was released in the year 2003. While that is not that long ago, I can easily put it in perspective by telling you that the first Apple iPhone was not even released until 2007. Now… do you know where your first gen. iPhone is? How about your flip phone. Can’t find that either?… then how about your pager? See… 2003 was technically not that long ago, but it feels like we have all traveled through eons into an alternate future.

If you happen to recognize this version of the Airboss Mach 4 with the yellow dot, but do not know what you have, then congratulations! You have a very rare and desirable Swiss Army watch that not many people will know about. I’ll call this an under-the-radar rarity. In fact, the people at Victorinox’s customer service did not even know the full story behind this watch, which was released in limited numbers to mark the launch of the “new” Airboss Mach 4 series of watches. You can read the full backstoryย at MEET THE WATCH: Rare Swiss Army Airboss Mach 4 Limited Edition.

One of the coolest coincidences is that two of these watches are located in Atlanta where I live. Plus, I have known the other owner since the first day of college in 1989. Does having one of my oldest buddies owning the same limited-edition make it more special to me? You bet it does. I cannot think about the watch without the long friendship. He better never sell his or we won’t be able to activate our “watch-twin” powers. That would just be sad.
